Considering its subject is an American president nobody has ever heard of, that’s some achievement.We’ll have to wait until November to clap eyes on it at the refurbished Victoria Palace Theatre but tickets go on sale at the end of January .In the meantime, you don’t have to be a Goth to fall into the cobwebbed embrace of The Addams Family: The Musical which will tour the UK from April 20 . This brand-new story has daughter Wednesday Addams falling in love with a nice respectable boy. Shocking!For epic rockers and Meat Loaf fans, the long-awaited Jim Steinman musical Bat Out Of Hell finally thunders into the London Coliseum in June . If you can’t wait that long it is previewing in Manchester Opera House from February 17 until April 8 . From April 7 the Coliseum will also play host to a semi-staged production of Rodgers Hammerstein’s immortal Carousel starring the irresistible double act of Katherine Jenkins and Alfie Boe .Among must-see non-musical theatre events is Imelda Staunton’s turn as the foul-mouthed Martha in a major revival of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? It starts previewing at the Harold Pinter Theatre from February 22 . Across town at the Barbican, Jude Law will play a moody drifter caught up in a lethal love triangle in Obsession. This tale of squalid sex and grisly murder is directed by the modish Ivo van Hove and based on the Visconti film that derived from James M Cain’s pulp noir novel The Postman Always Rings Twice. Opens April 19 .Andrew Scott – Benedict Cumberbatch’s worthy adversary in TV’s Sherlock – makes his debut at the Almeida in Hamlet with Juliet Stevenson as his mum Gertrude.
