Couldn’t eat for two days Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng took his side’s 2012 Champions League final defeat to Chelsea so badly that he could not eat for the next two days, the player revealed to ESPN. Chelsea won the match 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time. Boateng was partially at fault for Chelsea’s goal, although he acknowledges he isn’t to blame for the defeat. “I couldn’t eat for two days straight after that, it hurt so much,” he recalls, even if he doesn’t accept the personal blame that was heaped on him,” Boateng said. “It was a training ground move. Somebody — I think it was [Branislav] Ivanovic — blocked me off the ball, so I had no chance of getting to Drogba in time.
