Bulgaria Parliament Scraps Month-Long ‘Election Holiday’

Bulgaria Parliament Scraps Month-Long 'Election Holiday'

Lawmakers in Bulgaria have voted to reverse last week’s decision not to convene until after the presidential elections on November 06.The move, which would have resulted in a month-long holiday, has been foiled by discontent from the opposition in the urgent need to change the Electoral Code just weeks out of the election. Other pending issues, such as Bulgaria’s bill on the Belene nuclear plant project and the 2017 budget, also need to be addressed by Parliament’s floor. As many as 177 MPs backed an end to the “holiday”, with zero opposing and just 10 abstaining.
